Selecting The Correct Air Conditioning Contractor

One thing I see that is overlooked when people purchase air conditioning is the selection of a good tradesman.

So here a a few simple things that you can follow to ensure that you have a good tradesman doing your work.

THe first thing that you need to ask is do you have an air conditioning contractor license.?
He should also have an ARC tick certification

You would be surprised at the amount of people that run away when asked this question.

In all my time as a tradesman(18years) I have only been asked twice by someone to produce my license.

Then see if he/or she actually listens to what you want to accomplish. Let him know the exact results you wish to accomplish and then see how accomodating he is to your requests.

Ask for testimonials off past clients. This is very important. Get at least three testimonials off recent cleints that have had air conditioning installed by him.

Also make sure he is used to installing your brand of air conditioning. eg Fujitsu, Mitsubishi, Daikin etc. This is because brands have different types of wiring and other little tricks that you get to know along the way.

Another thing you should not be shy about is to ask for a written guarantee and penalties that apply if the installtion is not completed as agreed.

He should be able to give you assurances that the job will be done within a certain time frame and that if any damge occurs to the home who will pay for it.

When you install ducted air conditioning there can be times when it is reasonalbe to expect a little damage in your home. THings like when installers walk on your cieling nail holes may pop through the gyprock because the timber flexes when you walk.

Also if you have a very old home with lime mortar the render can tend to fall off with the slightest vibration.

Having said that, if the air conditioning installer is experienced he should bring these points up with you and clarify everything before starting the ducted installation.

If you follow these points it will help you being taken advantage of and having a bad experience.

Until Next Time

Stay Cool
