This is a question I get asked regularly and there is not an exact answer for this. Ducted Air Conditioning can be broken down into three types:

Conventional, Inverter and Digital Scroll.

The different types of systems each have their strengths and weaknesses.

Lets Start with Conventional Ducted Air Conditioning:

This type of system has a much lower capital cost, which is great for the budget minded consumer. The benefits are that your ducted air conditioning system will cost less to install . The down side is that the temperature control is not as accurate. It can vary up to 5 degrees and it does consume more power.

Inverter Ducted Air Conditioning

Inverter Ducted Air Conditioning systems are becoming the standard in Domestic air conditioning systems. The reason for this is because they are quieter than the conventional systems and use less power than the conventional air conditioning systems.

Inverter Ducted Systems have the ability to slow down the compressor when there is little need for a large cooling capacity. Because of this they consume up to 30% less electricity than the conventional systems and they also maintain a more constant temperature.

Digital Scroll Air Conditioning

Digital Scroll is the final type of technology available for your Ducted Air Conditioning system. This in my opinion is the best technology to install inyour home.

The system uses even less power than the inverter because it can nearly slow down to nothing, just idling wich is great for your back pocket. But on top of this is the way it can maintain temperature. It is even more accurate then the inverter ducted systems.

So in a nutshell, if you want an installation based on price go for the conventional ducted air conditioning

If you would like to have the most energy efficient air conditioning then choose a digital scroll air conditioning system.
