Saving Energy With Air Conditioning

Here are some simple things you can do to save energy and make your air conditioning more efficient.

Install outdoor unit of your air conditioner on the shady side of your house, or shade it.
If you expect a hot day, turn on your air conditioner before the house becomes hot. It takes less energy to keep it cool than to cool down a heated room.
Keep windows and doors closed to allow your air conditioner to operate effectively.
Shade the outside of windows to minimise heating and draw curtains in summer.
If your air conditioner has adjustable louvers, aim them at the ceiling when cooling (as cold air falls), and at the floor when heating (as hot air rises)
